Gas Sector Reform Principles Worked Out in Russia - Kudrin
Washington, April 22 – RIA Novosti, Alexei Berezin. Russia has worked out the principles of its gas sector reform. It was announced by Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin during his presentation at Carnegie Foundation in Washington.
“Naturally, there is a problem with Russian gas sector, which has not been reformed yet. To solve the problem, we have worked out the reform principles and they will be disclosed in the near future”, he said.
According to him, Kasyanov’s government did not manage “even to initiate such a reform, and later on, the reform was protracted”. The Minister stressed that Russia’s chairmanship of the Group of Eight and activities on energy problems in this regard stimulated the reform preparation.
“We are approaching the first draft of the proposal”, Kudrin said.
The Minister also noted that Russia put forward the initiative to create a global natural gas market, including liquefied gas, and to develop a system of standards for it.
